Printfile requirements

Technical requirements for print files

We accept composite PDF which meet the requirements of the PDF/X:1a (2001 or higher) standard.

PDF files must be unseparated (composite) and all pages in the right order (included blank pages) in one file.

Cover must be in seperate file, on spread pages (also the inside cover).

Before making the cover file ask the cover drawing (hardcover book) or spine width (perfect bound book).

All print files have to be designed at 1:1 scale.

All used fonts have to be embedded in the PDF file.

The trim box of the print file has to be positioned exactly in the centre of the page with an additional 3-5 mm symmetrical bleed.

All backgrounds, lines, images and other design elements that run up to the edges of the format have to be positioned 3-5 mm over the edge of the format, so as to reach into the bleed.

To avoid important elements from being cut off or altered in any other way in post-processing, they should be positioned 3mm from the edges of the paper.

In general, PDF files must not include any technical marking – measurement scales for inks, names of colors, registration marks or crop marks.

The crop marks (and also marks designating the perforation line) in the bleed area must not be closer than 3 mm to the clean publication format (TrimBox).

Black text and colored images must be in one file.

The optical resolution (dpi) of high-quality images must be double that of the raster resolution (lpi), but no less than 120 dpi.

Always should prefer vector objects.

If the print file contains colours from the RGB or Lab colour space, then they are automatically converted into CMYK colour space in the printing house, which may significantly alter their hues. This also goes for the automatic conversion of colours from the SPOT colour space into CMYK colour space.PMS color name should be number.

The design of the print file must take into account for the following reasons:

That all black (K-100%) objects (text, lines, backgrounds) are automatically subject to black overprint.

If unoverprinted blacks are needed, the objects must be designed accordingly (C- 1%, M-1%, Y-1%, K-100%).

Minimum line weight must be 0,05mm and in one color.

Spot UV and foil file must be in vector and 100% black, minimum line weight 0,15 mm.

If making foil on the design, then acepted movement is 1mm.

For special folding send sample.

If more than 5 correction, please send new corrected file.

Files can be uploaded in to our FTP (logins can be asked to or your sales manager) or use file transfer service ( 2GB, 5GB or ect.). Always inform printing house, when files are uploaded in FTP and also marked they location and name.

File names must be in english and unequivocally understandable (my_book_Cover.pdf or my_book_Inlay.pdf), replacement/correction pages must be added page number(my_book_Inlay_p08_new.pdf)

As the separator of job name use ”underscore symbol” (”_”) . Wrongly named files can create misunderstandings and faulty production.

File confirmation

We send softproof for client to check and need confirmation to print. If, after adding correction pages, the entire file has been sent to the control, we assume that the client verifies and validates all the pages again. Softproofs must be confirmed in writing, using for example an e-mail to prepress specialist and/or your sales manager.
